Every state has its own conventions for Bills and most states use the standard prefixes HB and SB, but we may find other prefixes such as AB. Below we can find more information about each abbreviation:
Term: Bill
Translation: Proyecto de Ley / proyecto de ley
Explanation: A bill is a proposal for a new law or a change to an existing law.
Additional note: According to RAE, we use uppercase when it comes to a specific Bill # or lowercase as a general description without the law number.
All are Bills (SB, HB, and AB), but it is important to translate where the law originated. Since there are independent TMs for each client, we may also find the use of preposition “del” or a description as “presentado por”.
