I’ve always thought that we can learn from each other in the LSI. And, after reviewing what TAUS, Rayna Damyanova, and ISO have to say about the post-editing services, I feel confident about that idea. In reports, videos, standards, there’s a lot to learn about Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE).
First, we have Ranya Damyanova, a language professional who delivered a webinar about post-editing services at an event hosted by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL). In this webinar, she explains the different levels of machine translation, and the actions required to make the most out of this technology, actions like post-editing. Now, we can mention TAUS. This is a Dutch company that offers language data solutions. Among their various services, one is related to MTPE. And, in the solutions option on their website, we can find a guidelines report about MTPE and the “best practices” to offer this service. You can access these guidelines through this link. And lastly but most importantly, the ISO offers a certification for MTPE. In the standard ISO 18587, they evaluate best practices, posteditor requirements, tools, etc., to ensure high-quality post-editing.
